Being Broken

1 Peter: 6-7 and 10 say: "So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and in his good time he will honour you. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you." "After you have suffered a little while he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation."
There is something remarkable about the idea of suffering and God allowing it. There is a reason He wants you to feel it, it is because in our brokenness He finds us the most pure and honest and in need of Him. If He never allowed us to suffer, we would take His love for granted and never truly understand why He came and gave His life for us.

Suffering is what it's all about. Being broken before Jesus is what it's all about.

It's a scary prayer, asking to be broken. Just because suffering is a good thing, does not mean we as humans, like it. It's not a fun filled carnival to be down on your knees, balling your eyes out, having your heart hurt and the pain wear you down. But when it is all over, God is there with open arms, ready to accept your pain and the beauty that comes after.

God, I love you so much, and I'm sorry for the things that I have done that have made you sad. I want to live a life filled with pain and beauty, completely devoted to you. Please forgive me and heal me. Help me to be a light to those I will be living with this year and to feel worthy of their love as well as yours. Please break my heart for what breaks yours. Show me what hurts you.

There is a song that says: "Give me your eyes for just one second, give me your eyes so I can see. Give me a heart for the broken-hearted, give me a heart for humanity."
I think these lyrics say it all, we want Jesus' eyes, just for a second, to see what hurts him and what he sees in our communities that we can be a light to.

God bless all of you, and continue to pray for God's sight.
