Get ready to see skateboarding’s top pros and ams vie for their piece of
$85,000 as the 6th Annual Downtown Showdown presented by Rockstar Energy
Drink invades Paramount Studios’ Back Lot this Saturday, October 2. The
top teams in skateboarding including Girl, Zero, Toy Machine,

Foundation, Black Label, Blind, Element and Powell Peralta submitted
plans for obstacles and Vans has picked the best of the lot.

Black Label, Girl, Zero and Foundation’s designs have been chosen and
custom built as part of this year’s Showdown course. Each team will
session the four unique obstacles in a round-robin format with awards
going out for top team, best pro, top am and best performance by
obstacle.

Expected riders include: Brian Anderson, Tony Trujillo, Frank Gerwer,
Rick Howard, Vincent Alvarez, Chris Pfanner, Chris Cole, Garrett Hill,
Tommy Sandoval, Jamie Tancowny, Ben Hatchell, Leo Romero, Billy Marks,
Johnny Layton, Matt Bennett, Daniel Lutheran, Collin Provost, Nick
Merlino, Elijah Berle, Marquis Preston, Taylor Smith, Abdias Rivera,
Adam Alfaro, Chris Troy, Omar Hassan, Peter Raffin, Tyler Mumma, Ronnie
Creager, Jake Duncombe, Kevin Romar, Sean Sheffey, Chad Tim Tim, Levi

Takashi Murakami at Versailles

Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is opening his exhibition at the Palace of Versailles this week, and of course everyone and their French maid is all upset about it because his work is, well, rather the opposite of Baroque. I think you'd be an idiot to say his art belongs in the palace, but isn't it the fact that it's there anyway the fun part?

Lighten up.

Oh, also, there's a bit in this article by the Guardian which states that Royalist Activists are planning a protest. Are you serious? Royalists? The French Revolution culminated in the beheading of Louis XVI in 1793, and while there was that Napoleon fellow and a few other pretenders in the intervening years, the Third Republic was formed all the way back in 1871. Point being: get over it.

They're not burning the place down, they're just making it more fun.

Friday Sept 17th was the TRENT RIVERSIDE SLIP & SLIDE! In support of the RIVERSIDE RAIL JAM. There was a giant 150' slip & slide down Gowski hill plus mud wrestling plus DJ Muddler & DJ WHO laying down the jams. Not to mention, a fire with drum circle, body painting and a slew of other fun things going down. Later on Splice opened up to host the official after party where people got their drink & dance on.
