Feeling Charitable? Support These Macy's Alumni!

Three opportunities to support former members of the Macy’s family in making a difference! I am proud to say that I supported all three causes this year.

Autism Speaks

Macy’s Alumna Anne Katz-Hanna will be participating in the Autism Speaks event, Light It Up Blue, on April 1st. Over the last 13 years, the rate of diagnosis for autism has risen from1 in 2000 to 1 in 70, predominantly in males. The goal of Autism Speaks is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders by funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.

Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women

On Saturday, April 30th, Macy’s Alumni Bill and Lisa Laube will be participating in the 14th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women. With one in three women predicted to develop cancer in her lifetime, we’ve all felt the effect of women’s cancer. Your donation will help to fund important research in to the cause and cure of women’s cancers, prevention, education and support services programs.

National MS Society

Last, but certainly not least, Macy’s Alumna Sylvia D’Aprile, will be participating in the Albany Walk MS on May 1st. Having multiple sclerosis means that you may not be able to walk when you wake up. Or that you may suddenly have impaired vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. The symptoms of MS are different, and devastating, for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day. Today, there is no cure for multiple sclerosis, and with a diagnosis occurring most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50, many individuals face a lifetime filled with unpredictability.
